EU investigates Google over AI-generated search results

The European Commission is investigating Google over the AI summaries which appear above search results.

The Commission said it would examine whether the tech giant failed to offer adequate compensation to publishers of websites and content it may be using to provide this service.

The investigation will also cover Google’s AI Mode, a feature which the company says enables users to “input complex, multi-part queries and receive comprehensive, AI-generated responses.”
